Best records of 2008
Just the other day I was diving in my car and thinking to myself “what a SHIT year for music!” thinking that nothing came out that was even worth a mention. Then it dawned on me, “Death Magnetic was released this year, and that was pretty kick-ass, right?”
So I felt like digging deeper, really exploring what was released and taking the top three and posting them right here. I will of course also make honorable mentions of some others but when you really want to get down to the nitty-gritty, there are always those three that prevail….so, let’s begin now:

Crystal Castles | Crystal Castles
There, I said it. My favorite record this year was an electronic CD by a Canadian hipster duo. 8-bit synths and throbbing drum machine, producer and multi-instrumentalist Ethan Kath glitches and twists the tracks into fidgety sexy dance anthems. This is what baby makin’ music in the future sounds like!
And it’s all downhill from here… (just kidding!)
Narrow Stairs | Death Cab for Cutie
Well, it by far the best Death Cab record, we know that much for sure. These guys gave Crystal Castles a good run for their money. A record that I like to compare it to is ATLiens, you just pop it in and press play…
thrashy, must…beauty, must….hairy goosebumps…platinum plus!
Despite all the hoopla about how this album was released (pay what you want to download), the best part is the music. From the drum machine-like beats of ‘15 Step’ to the piano driven ‘Videotape’, this CD is one of Radiohead’s best efforts yet!
So to make a long story short (or long blog post short) I will just jot the names of some others that made the thought process but didn’t really feel ‘Top 3’ worthy…
